The list of vehicles manufactured in the United States which are approved for entry into Canada is published by Transport Canada. Make sure you check your vehicle against the List of Vehicles Admissible from the United States before you import. Where there is no information concerning a current model year (2008) US specification vehicle you must contact the manufacturer to determine its admissibility or inadmissibility. Pre-clearance allows Canada Border Service Agency to screen commercial importers of new, fully-complying Canadian-specification vehicles at border entry points. If the importing company is on this list, the vehicles can be directly imported through Customs at any Canadian designated port of entry. There is no requirement for an inspection by the Registrar of Imported Vehicles and no service charges apply. The onus for claiming pre-clearance status however lies with the importers or their agent at the time of importation. This list is made available for the use of the manufacturers and importers on the list, Canadian customs brokers, the Registrar of Imported Vehicles, and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). |
